Today we celebrate Juneteenth.  The Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863.  It wasn't until June 19th, 1865 that word reached our enslaved ancestors in Texas that they were indeed free.  Juneteenth is the day we celebrate the independence of our ancestors that were enslaved in this country.
Today we honor those that came before us and built this country. We salute their resilience and strength. We have come along way yet still so far to go. ✊🏾✊🏿✊🏽✊🏼
