Juneteenth June 19, 1865-June 2020
Today we celebrate Juneteenth.
The Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863. It wasn't until June 19th, 1865 that word reached our enslaved ancestors in Texas that they were indeed free. Juneteenth is the day we celebrate the independence of our ancestors that were enslaved in this country.
Today we honor those that came before us and built this country. We salute their resilience and strength. We have come along way yet still so far to go. ✊🏾✊🏿✊🏽✊🏼
One of the best ways we can continue to help the descendants of those that were held back and enslaved for so long is to consciously bring your economic contribution and influence to and through our communities. #buyingblack is very important to building the wealth in our communities that can help with the ability and power needed to make certain social and political improvements to free us even more from the issues we still face today as a race.
